When we first started out, our goal was not so much for discounts, but for product availablity. As we all know with only 35 million residents in Canada, (that's the same population as California) the new car dealers in Canada only get so much allocation of new product. Therefore, this causes a lack of inventory available in the used car marketplace. Many new Canadian car dealers will tell you not to purchase from the US as you don't know what you are buying.... Of course, unfortunately with higher Canadian retail prices what else can they tell you as a consumer. One thing a potential buyer needs to remember is that all these vehicles, whether made for Canadian or US consumption are all made in the same factory.

The comments made that you will not know the history of what you are buying also is inaccurate. The US, one of the most sophisticated countries on the planet has a record database in Carfax that far exceeds anything Canadian insurance companies have for accident, salvage or theft reports. Not to mention all vehicles are put through a very strict inspection before being presented for sale here in Canada. In many instances 2 inspections, one being a pre-purchase inspection ordered by Westport before we conclude our purchase, and a second required Canadian Government (MVA) inspection for the importation process. It's important to understand, when we buy a vehicle in the US we are investing our money, and we certainly have no intentions of losing money by making a a bad purchase of an accident vehicle or fraudulent transaction. We have imported well over 1,000 vehicles that have been retailed here in Canada and have an invaluable network of major franchise dealer partners in the United States which have assisted us in having the nicest, cleanest next to new product in quantity on the marketplace.

As far as warranties are concerned, yes its true that there are a few that do not roll over into Canada from the US. Those are Honda, Acura and Dodge. Everything you will see that is on our website will have the full factory warranty balance until its regular expiration date and or kilometres driven. Naturally, all vehicles we sell will be put through all compliance and recall requirements and will be sold on a BC registration, just like the current vehicle you already have. You can also be assured that all annual service intervals required for your new vehicle will be performed by Westport prior to your purchase.

We at Westport take pride in our customer retention, this is how we got to where we are. We are happy to pay equivalent dollars for a US vehicle imported originally by Westport as what a Canadian car is worth. In other words, to us and our clients, a vehicle with a clean history is worth what it is worth, whether its from Canada or the US.
